Our school successfully carried out the 2022 EQUIS re-accreditation assessment
From September 13th to 16th, 2022, the international accreditation expert group of the European Quality Improvement System conducted a four-day re-accreditation assessment of our school online. The expert group was led by Professor John Finch - Dean of the Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow, and members included Professor Julio Urgel - Special Adviser of the European Foundation for Management Development, Professor Kou Gang - Dean of the School of Business Administration, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, and Betty Lau - Director of Leadership and Talent at ASM Front-end Manufacturing.
On September 13th, the expert group listened to Dean Wang Fan's basic introduction of the development of our school, and had in-depth discussions with all leaders of our school on issues such as school governance, vision and mission, strategic planning, faculty team and talent cultivation.
On September 14th, during the accreditation symposium, Academician Gao Song - President of Sun Yat-sen University, gave a brief introduction to the accreditation expert group from the aspects of educational philosophy, talent cultivation, discipline construction and international exchange, and had in-depth discussion and exchange with experts focusing on discipline development planning, degree program management and strengthening international cooperation, etc.. Gu Wenli - Deputy Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Department of Sun Yat-sen University, introduced the development of international cooperation and exchange of the university.
During the accreditation period, the accreditation expert group held several online symposiums with school leaders at all levels, representatives of enterprises, alumni, faculty and students, as well as the main heads of various functional departments of the school on the development strategy and objectives, teaching programs, curriculum, student cultivation, faculty, academic research, resource management, internationalization level, moral ethics, social responsibility, financial management, sustainable development and corporate relations of the school, etc.. At the same time, the accreditation materials of the school were reviewed in detail.
On the morning of September 16th, the accreditation expert group gave verbal feedback to our school on the initial impression of on-site accreditation, and gave full affirmation to our school's good reputation, high-quality faculty and students (including alumni), increasing international education level, rigorous teaching management and process, first-class school facilities and environment, etc.. They also spoke highly of the development plan and direction of our school during the 14th Five-Year Plan period and extended good wishes, hoping that the School of Business, Sun Yat-sen University would become a world-class renowned business school in the near future.
Dean Wang Fan expressed his gratitude to the expert group for its re-accreditation assessment and affirmation of the development of the school's various undertakings over the past five years. The high-intensity work, efficient style and professional guidance of the expert group in four days deeply impressed the faculty, students and staff. Based on the valuable suggestions and opinions given by the expert group, combining the school's actual work situation, the school will continue to forge ahead and strive towards the established goal of building an international first-class business school.
It is reported that according to the EQUIS accreditation regulations and procedures, the final accreditation results will be officially notified to our school and announced by the end of this year.
