Disciplines
School of Business, Sun Yat-sen University has grown along with the development of China's reform and opening up. Since its establishment in 1985, with the guidance of serving the country's major strategy and the economic and social development, the school has built up the domestic first-level disciplines in management, characterized by a combination of "domestic conditions, cultural integration, and social services", which includes two major first-level disciplines (Business Administration, and Management Science and Engineering). The discipline of Business Administration was recognized as a first-level national key discipline in 2007, tied for first place (A+) in the fourth round of national discipline evaluation in 2017, and ranked No.1 in the Best Discipline of China by Shanghai Ranking from 2019 to 2025, which marks a new level of the discipline construction for business school.
After alomost 40 years of construction and development, School of Business has made great achievements: It currently has 2 postdoctoral research stations, 2 academic doctoral degree programs, 1 professional doctoral degree Programs, 4 professional Master's Degree Programs, 2 academic master's degree programs, 2 undergraduate programs, 1 undergraduate dual bachelor's degree program and 1 DBA program; And it has built a group of ministry and provincial quality project, national and provincial quality courses, which won 3 national teaching achievement awards and 8 provincial teaching achievement awards.
Research Achievements
Until Dec. 2025, School of Business, Sun Yat-sen University had undertaken a total of 455 national-level projects and 528 projects of ministries and commissions of the state. Among which, 1 project of the Guangdong Big Data Science Research Center under the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), 1 NSFC Innovative Research Group Project, 4 NSFC Distinguished Young Scholars Fund Projects, 5 NSFC Excellent Young Scientists Fund Projects, 2 NSFC Major Projects and 16 NSFC Key Projects; it has undertaken 14 Major Projects and 8 Key Projects funded by the National Social Science Fund of China, as well as 4 Key Research Projects in Philosophy and Social Sciences sponsored by the Ministry of Education. From 2017 to 2025, faculty members of the school have published a total of 2,727 academic papers.

Journals
In order to strengthen the academic influence of the School of Business in the field of research, extensively absorb the management methods and advanced experience from international enterprises, and deepen the academic exchanges with the scholars in the field of management at home and abroad, Sun Yat-sen Business School founded three professional journals, which are China Journal of Accounting Research, Quarterly Journal of Management and Digital Intelligence Technology: Research & Application, publishing original and review papers in Chinese and English, covering all areas of economics and management.
Students
With its excellent academic reputation, strong faculty team, excellent teaching conditions and rich campus culture, the School's various degree programs have become a platform for outstanding students to exchange ideas and grow together.
The School adheres to the principle of "undergraduate-oriented", attaches importance to the cultivation of undergraduate talents, and has set up a number of scholarships and grants for undergraduates in our School by integrating social resources. The school-level scholarships include Li Xuerou Foundation scholarship, Eyas Soaring scholarship, Ho's admission scholarship, Dean's honorable award, etc.
Special posts are set up for further education, career planning and career guidance, guiding students to enhance their awareness and competitiveness of further studies by improving the quality of education and teaching. In recent years, the proportion of students going to MIT, Oxford, Tsinghua University, Peking University and other famous universities at home and abroad for further study has continuously increased. In addition to the study in classroom, our School also cultivates students' all around development of morality, intelligence, physique, aesthetics and labor with the second-classroom, and shapes the business talents who have both ability and moral integrity, able to cultivate charisma and eager to serve their country. Among which, ' Rhythm for China' activity has won the special award of outstanding achievement in the campus culture construction of national universities by the Ministry of Education; And many honors have been won in various business competitions every year. As Sept. 2025, according to the statistics of enrollment and employment, our school has trained 13,668 graduates, 16,692 master graduates, and 1037 PhD graduates. The School aims to cultivate managers with broad international vision, noble moral culture and excellent ability and quality, we provide outstanding management talents to the academic and political fields.
