Man-Nok Wong- Assistant Professor at the School of Business, published his research on pay transparency in the Academy of Management Journal (AMJ)
Man-Nok Wong, Assistant Professor at the School of Business, Sun Yat-sen University, has recently published a paper in the Academy of Management Journal (AMJ) titled "Pay Transparency as a Moving Target: A Multi-Step Model of Pay Compression, I -Deals, and Collectivist Shared Values". In this paper, the authors demonstrate that firm-level pay transparency elicits a multi-step process involving managers and employees that shifts the dispersion in remuneration from more observable forms (i.e., pay) to less observable forms (i.e., idiosyncratic deals—personalized arrangements such as increased vacation time, paid training, or additional health benefits), thus making pay transparency a “moving target”.
*The Academy of Management Journal is one of the leading journals (UTD-24, FT-50) in the field of management.
